New automation from Vizrt presented at IBC

By Nicki Lolk Soerensen - 16 September 2014 at 12:04

Not only did Vizrt officially launch version 3.6 of Mosart. They also presented a new control room automation solution.

The new Viz Opus is basically a bundle of Viz products combined with hardware to create a small control room. It is more or less a tv channel in a box.

Viz Opus is a video switcher, video server, an audio mixer, a Viz engine and Viz Mosart all bundled together. Just like the standard Mosart, you can connect it to any NRCS system like Inews or ENPS. But it only has four inputs and two outputs including program.

While it cannot replace an ordinary news control room, you can use it for multi-camera sng's or smaller productions. But what's more interesting is, that it can be used as a so-called cross-over automation. Imagine you're going to a live press conference on your news channel. You know that for the next half hour, nothing happens in the control room. It's just some guy talking. In this case, you can let Viz Opus take over and continue the press conference. Nothing happens on air. Now you can use the control room to ie. record a promo for one of your other channels. When you're ready, just switch back from Viz Opus to your control room.

Sky Deutschland and TV 2 Norway is already using Viz Opus.
